Egyeskő refuge
At the feet of Egyeskő there is a hikers' hut, situated on 1504 m. The hut was constructed by the Transylvanian Carpathian Society, its official opening was held on the 14th of August, 1932. The building has been extended a few times since then, its two rooms can accommodate approximately 30 hikers now. Although the hut managed to survive for many years, hard times have taken their toll on it. Visitors should bear in mind that this is a refuge, circumstances are anything but luxury: there is no electricity and running water, the roof is not 100% impermeable, guests shall bring their own food and sleeping bags. Heating is provided with iron stoves, drinking water can be drawn from the nearby spring. These "Spartan" conditions are compensated by the fairly modest accommodation fee (3 RON/person/night). It is also allowed to pitch tents on the meadow by the hut.
Booking
Currently the hut is out of operation, according to the owner (local government of Csíkszentdomokos), its full-scale renovation is planned to start in spring 2010.
